WCAA Announces Recipient of the 2018 Jill Robson Memorial Scholarship

The Window Coverings Association of America (WCAA) is pleased to announce that Mary Beth Warner, owner of Home SewLutions, a custom window treatment and decor workroom based in Needham, Massachusetts, is the 2018 recipient of the Jill Robson Memorial Scholarship.
The Jill Robson Memorial Scholarship was founded to honor the memory of Jill Robson and to promote education in the window coverings industry for those already in the industry as well as those new to window coverings. The scholarship fund encourages and equips WCAA business owners by supporting their education and providing foundational learning opportunities to promote professionalism in the industry.

An active WCAA member, Warner joined the National WCAA and the Eastern Massachusetts WCAA Chapter in 2014 and the Virtual Chapter in 2016. Currently, she is the Treasurer of the Eastern Massachusetts Chapter. Warner's involvement in the WCAA has brought many benefits to her business through its collaborative community and enriching education. Most of all, she has enjoyed befriending people with similar interests.

The many courses Warner has participated in have helped elevate her expertise to a professional level. With guidance from Ann Johnson, Kim Chagnon, Penny Bruce, and Deb Cronin — just to name a few — she has learned much about both the creative and technical aspects of the business. She looks forward to continuing this learning and tackling new challenges.

Her passion for sewing and creativity started as a little girl through the inspiration and instruction of her mother. When she joined the local 4-H Club, she immersed herself in fashion shows, sewing demonstrations, and competitions. As a junior and senior in high school, she was leader of her own 4-H Club, sharing her love of fabrics and textiles.

While raising her five children alongside her husband Mark, her sewing machine was always running. Taking on personal projects and requests from friends and family, Warner's reputation grew over time through word of mouth. She credits the Rowley Co. webinars featuring Susan Woodcock and Laurie Medford to her first professional learning experiences.

Mary Beth is honored to receive this award in Jill Robson's memory.

“I hope to use any knowledge gained to not only help me in my business but allow me to share my expertise with others and contribute to this industry, as Jill so beautifully did,” Warner said. She plans to use the scholarship funds to attend the Custom Workroom Conference 2018 this fall.
WCAA will officially present Warner with her scholarship award on Tuesday, March 27th, during the Awards Ceremony at the International Window Coverings Expo in Tampa, Florida.
