The
Board of directors of The
Window Coverings Association
of America has just returned
from our annual summer meeting.
This time we met in Chicago
in conjunction with the Window
Coverings Weekend Academy.
Both events were wonderfully
successful, and as president
of the association and a teacher
at the academy, I couldn’t
be happier.
There
are a few things I’d
like to tell you about:
First,
we are privileged to add
two new members to the Board
of Directors: Carolyn Silberman
and Rose Webb. Most of you
are familiar with these two:
Carolyn is the Publisher
of D&WC
Magazine for L. C Clark Publications,
and Rose is the sales administrator
of Window Fashions Inc. Chestwick,
Pennsylvania. Both of these
women bring vast knowledge
and experience to the board
and I am honored to welcome
them.
We
are still seeking another
board member, and I would
like to encourage any of
you who are interested to
call the office and ask for
an application. I have sought
to make the board a balanced
organization by bringing on
people form all different aspects
of the window coverings industry.
Some are small business owners,
some workrooms, some larger
retailers, some who are involved
in the print end of the business
as well as show production,
and some are representing
industry partners. If you have
tried before and did not serve,
perhaps the time wasn’t
right. Try again.
My
friend, Amy Burton has completed
four years on the Board and
is at the end of her well served
term. I am sorry to see her
leave the board,
but want her to know how
much her service has been
appreciated. Thank you, Amy…
I
am pleased to remind you
that in our effort to bring “added
value” to
your membership, that WCAA
is able to offer GE Money
Program to help you build
your business with financing
tools from GE Money. This
enables you to offer financing
to your customers on site
and at the time of the sale.
We have some really wonderful
marketing programs that are
almost ready to tell you
about: and we are working
on updating some of the programs
that are currently available…so
keep an eye out!
I
have lots of traveling in
the works. In addition to
being in Boston with the
Weekend Academy, I’m
heading out to Raleigh for
their event September the
27th, and then to visit the
new chapter in Santa Cruz,
California in October, not
to mention the CHF show in
Valley Forge. And visiting
the Phoenix chapter… It’s
a busy time. I hope I’ll
see you all.
