The course material is comprised of two parts:
Part A: Basics of Window Treatments
Part A includes information on window treatment functions, measurements, hardware selection and installation, fiber properties and product care.
Part B: Custom Window Treatments
Part B covers calculating yardage, selecting the right fabric, combining treatments and creativity in design.
Certification Exam and PreparationWhen you register, you may purchase the study guide, the textbook, and your testing fee separately or as a package.
The CWTC exam is based on information in the textbook, Window Treatments by Karla Nielson. Karla is an Assistant Professor at Brigham-Young University, a well known industry speaker, author of several other books on interior design and brings hands-on experience from being the owner of a retail interior design business.
After successfully completing the examination, you will receive your certification recognition package, which includes a certificate, press release & lapel pin.
Registration and Certification Maintenance Fees$50 non refundable application fee is charged for each NEW certification and is valid for one year from date of application. This fee covers reviewing the 5 pieces of documentation, communication with member, and administrative duties. Study Guide $35 per guide in download format OR $50 hard copy mailed Text Book $99 Test fee $175 per certification for the initial sitting
$175 Retake fee (within 3 months of initial testing)
$175 Retake fee (after 3 months of initial testing)
Recertification Fees - Due with proof of continuing education every 2 years
Maintaining your certification
Maintaining your certification status requires a current WCAA membership, your active participation in the industry, proof of continuing education credits, and your desire to improve level of knowledge. Additional details will be sent to you after successful completion of the course.
