The Product Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, pricing and maintaining all product lines carried and/or manufactured by Next Day Blinds. This position works closely with members of Marketing, Merchandising, Production, Sales, IT and Customer Service to introduce new products, enhance existing products, and manage retail pricing. The Product Manager oversees the Next Day Blinds and Hunter Douglas product lines and is responsible for the entire process, from the initial concept to implementation and pricing of our product offering. The Product Manager brings new or improved product ideas to the table by understanding new advancements and trends in the window covering business as well as keeping a pulse on the competition. Once approved, the Product Manager is responsible for finalizing the product concept, documenting requirements and specifications, setting pricing and implementing throughout all sales channels. This requires a close partnership with factory operations, engineering, and QA to ensure thorough planning and communication among all teams involved.

The Product Manager is also responsible for vendor management and negotiating costs and/or co-op opportunities with suppliers.

Requirements Key Responsibilities
Areas of responsibility will include, but not limited to:
Product Management (Sales, Quality, Satisfaction and Competitive Evaluation)
  • Determines customers' product needs and wants by planning and driving the research needed to obtain market information.
  • Recommends the nature and scope of present and future product lines by reviewing product specifications and requirements.
  • Assesses market competition by comparing the company's product to competitors' products.
  • Manage and communicates sales information and product changes both internally and externally.
  • Regularly performs pricing and competitive analysis by customer channel and recommend strategies to improve market position, improve quality or reduce costs.
  • Develops a long term product roadmap and develops plans to accomplish the roadmap items.
  • Produces, maintains and updates annual forecast of product sales mix.
  • Develops and maintains product database with product specifications, artwork and catalog copy.
New Product Development and Introduction
  • Directs and performs all aspects of product development, product changes and product promotions, including, product positioning, pricing, sell sheet copy, training aides and necessary point of sale merchandisers.
  • Brings new products to market by analyzing proposed product requirements and product development programs; preparing return-on-investment analyses;
  • Establishes and manages new product development schedules with sales, marketing, IT and manufacturing.
  • Analyzes scope of projects and rationalizes financial aspects of new products to ensure business goals are met.
  • Owner of the product from start to finish.
  • Develops and maintains strong partnerships with factory operations and engineering as a key business partner in product development and new/enhanced product launches.
  • Communicates product changes or new product launches to Sales teams, partners with Training on developing reference guides and other product material, and serves as the internal subject matter expert (SME) on product and pricing.
Product Retail Pricing
  • Reviews production and sales costs along with competitive products to determine effective pricing levels
  • Manages product pricing to ensure margins reach company goals.
Vendor Management
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with vendors
  • Sources and evaluates new product offerings from existing and potential vendors
  • Manages and negotiate costs and supply agreements with vendor partners
Experience and Background:
  • A 4 year bachelor's degree in business administration or marketing
  • Analytical abilities
  • Strong mathematical skills
  • Extensive knowledge in the window coverings industry
  • Knowledge of trends within the window coverings industry
  • Ability to cull information from various reports and combine it to determine product line decisions
  • Ability to make decisions
  • Attention to details
  • Organizational abilities
  • Ability to work well with peers and executives
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
